Small business technology · South Africa

The tech department
your business doesn't have.

We build websites, apps and internal systems for smaller South African businesses — and fix the ones quietly costing you hours every week. Straight answers, fixed quotes, no jargon.

  • Free 30-minute chat, no obligation
  • Fixed-price quotes before we start
  • You own everything we build

Why people call us

Sound familiar?

Most of the businesses we work with aren't looking for 'digital transformation'. They're looking for one specific thing to stop being annoying.

  • Your website is embarrassing you

It was built years ago, it looks wrong on a phone, and you'd rather send people your Instagram than your domain.

  • The business runs on spreadsheets and WhatsApp

It works, sort of, until someone's on leave and nobody can find the file with the right numbers in it.

  • The same information gets typed in three times

Once on paper, once into a spreadsheet, once into the accounting system. Every mistake gets copied along with it.

  • Someone built you a system and disappeared

Now nobody can change it, nobody knows the password, and you're a bit scared to touch it.

  • You know you should automate that thing

The quotes, the invoices, the reminders, the monthly report. Everyone agrees. Nobody has a spare week to do it.

  • You just want someone to phone

Not a call centre in another timezone. A person who already knows how your setup works.

If you recognised more than one of those, the fix is usually smaller and cheaper than you're expecting. That's worth a half-hour conversation.

Our services

What we do

Six things, really. Most jobs are one of them; plenty are two or three stitched together.

Websites that earn their keep

A site that loads fast, reads well on a phone, and turns visitors into enquiries — not just a brochure that sits there.

  • Marketing sites and landing pages
  • Online stores and payment links
  • Booking and enquiry forms that reach you properly
  • Google Business, search basics and analytics set up
  • Copywriting help if the words are the hard part

Web and mobile apps

When a website isn't enough and off-the-shelf software doesn't fit how you actually work.

  • Customer portals and client logins
  • Internal tools for your staff
  • Apps that keep working with no signal, then sync later
  • Installs on a phone home screen — no app store queue
  • Job cards, checklists, stock counts, site inspections

Modernising what you already have

You rarely need to throw everything away. Usually you need the worst part replaced and the rest left alone.

  • Paper and spreadsheet processes turned into real systems
  • Old sites and systems rebuilt without losing your data
  • Speed, security and mobile fixes on existing sites
  • Taking over work another developer left behind
  • An honest audit of what's worth keeping

Automation and integrations

Getting your existing tools to talk to each other, so nobody has to be the human copy-paste layer.

  • Quotes, invoices and reminders that send themselves
  • Accounting, store and CRM tools connected up
  • WhatsApp, SMS and email notifications
  • Scheduled reports that land in the right inbox
  • One-off data clean-ups and migrations

Reporting you'll actually look at

One place to see how the business is doing, instead of five files and a phone call.

  • Dashboards for sales, production or jobs
  • Daily and monthly summaries, generated automatically
  • Clean exports for your accountant, HR or head office
  • Charts that make the trend obvious at a glance

Hosting, security and support

The unglamorous part. Someone whose job it is to make sure the thing stays up.

  • Domains, business email and DNS sorted properly
  • Hosting, SSL certificates and automatic backups
  • Uptime monitoring — we usually know before you do
  • Monthly maintenance and small changes on request
  • A person to phone when something breaks

The process

How working with us goes

No 12-week discovery phase, no invoice surprises. Four steps, and you know where you stand at each one.

  1. 01

    A free chat

Half an hour, in person or on a call. You explain the annoying thing. We ask questions and tell you honestly whether we're the right people — sometimes the answer is 'you don't need us, just change this setting'.

  2. 02

A written plan and a fixed price

You get a short document in plain English: what we'll build, what it costs, how long it takes, and what we'd deliberately leave out of version one. No hourly-rate roulette.

  3. 03

We build, you see it weekly

We work in short cycles and show you something real every week. You give feedback while it's still cheap to change, instead of at the end when it isn't.

  4. 04

    Launch, hand over, look after

We put it live, sit with your team until they're comfortable using it, and hand over every account and password. Then we stay on for support if you want us to.

How we work

Fixed quotes
You approve a number before we start. If we underestimate the job, that's our problem to absorb — not a surprise on your invoice.
You own all of it
Code, domains, hosting accounts, logins. Everything in your name from day one. If you ever want to leave us, you can, and nothing breaks.
Plain language
We won't hide behind vocabulary. If we can't explain why something costs what it costs, it probably shouldn't cost that.
We finish things
Small enough to care about our reputation in a small market. A half-built system that nobody uses is worse than no system at all.

Example projects

The kind of work we take on

Moli Consulting is a young company and we'd rather show you our thinking than borrow someone else's logo. These are worked examples of typical jobs — what we'd look at, what we'd build, and what changes afterwards.

Trades and services

The plumbing company still booking jobs on paper

The problem

Jobs are taken over the phone into a diary, given to plumbers as scribbled addresses, and invoiced days later from memory. Work gets missed and invoices go out late.

What we'd build

A simple job system: office books the job, the plumber sees today's list on their phone, ticks it off with photos and notes on site, and the invoice is drafted the moment the job is marked done.

What changes

Nothing falls through the diary, invoices go out same-day, and the owner can see where every job stands without phoning anyone.

Retail

The boutique selling through Instagram DMs

The problem

Sales happen in direct messages, stock lives in the owner's head, and busy weekends mean selling the same item twice.

What we'd build

A small online store carrying the real stock count, payment on checkout, and a stock number that goes down by itself. The Instagram audience keeps buying the way they like — the admin just stops being manual.

What changes

No more double-selling, evenings back, and a shop that keeps trading while everyone's asleep.

Manufacturing and mining

The production numbers living in five spreadsheets

The problem

Supervisors capture daily output on paper or in Excel. Someone spends the first days of every month consolidating it by hand, and by the time management sees a number it's three weeks old.

What we'd build

A capture app supervisors use on their phones — including in places with no signal, where it queues entries and syncs when they're back in range. Everything lands in one database with a live summary and a one-click export.

What changes

The monthly compile disappears. Management sees yesterday's numbers today, and the export other departments need is a button instead of a favour.

Tools we work with

We pick what fits the job and your budget, not what's fashionable. If you're already on something that works, we'll happily build around it.

About us

Who you'd actually be working with

Moli Consulting is two people, on purpose. You deal directly with whoever is building your thing — there's no account manager relaying messages, and nothing gets quietly handed to a junior.

OS

Oli Strauss

Frontend, mobile & product

Builds the parts people touch — websites, phone apps and interfaces that make sense to someone who's never been trained on them. Fond of software that keeps working when the signal doesn't.

MB

MC Botha

Backend, data & infrastructure

Handles the machinery behind the scenes — databases, integrations, servers and the reporting that turns a pile of records into something a manager can read.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

It depends entirely on what you need, so we don't publish price lists that would be wrong for you. A small marketing site is a very different job to a system your whole team works in. What we can promise is that you'll get one fixed number in writing before any work starts, and it won't move unless you ask for something new.

Weeks, not months. A straightforward website is usually a couple of weeks; something more involved, like a custom app or an internal system, takes a bit longer depending on how complex it is — but we still work in weeks. You'll get a timeframe in writing with your quote, and you'll see working progress along the way rather than waiting until the end to find out where things stand.

It's the normal situation, and honestly it's easier than working with someone who's half-convinced they already know the answer. You're the expert on your business. Our job is to ask the right questions and translate.

You do. Everything gets set up in your name, and you get every login at handover. We think holding a client's domain hostage is a rotten business model.

Usually, yes — and often that's the cheaper answer. We're happy to take over someone else's codebase, plug into software you already pay for, or work alongside an existing IT provider.

That's a fine reason to call. Sometimes a business needs a second opinion on a quote, help choosing between two products, or someone to tell them their current setup is actually fine. We do that too.

We'll have handed over everything, so you're free to walk away. Most clients keep us on a small monthly arrangement for hosting, backups, monitoring and the odd change. Entirely optional, cancel whenever.

Get in touch

Tell us what's annoying you

A rough description is plenty — you don't need to know what you want built. We'll come back with questions and an honest answer about whether we can help.

We reply to every enquiry within one working day. We're based in South Africa and work with clients anywhere in the country.

We'll only use these details to reply to you. No lists, no sharing them with anyone else.
